GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Closed for a decade, a historic downtown Guntersville restaurant is about to reopen. And it's being opened by the same woman who left it many years ago.
It's been 10 years since the Glover was open and it's opening again with the very same owner, and she says she's excited.
"Every time I passed the place I felt like it was calling my name," said Beatrice Glover.
After more than a decade, Beatrice Glover is coming back to the Glover Restaurant to reopen this historic place.
She and her husband, Jimmy, share Glover as a last name and have been working on the restaurant getting it ready since July 1.
"It's a lot of work, a lot of work. We're putting a lot of time in but it's going to be worth it," said Jimmy Glover.
The goal is to retain its historic feel and be fine dining with prime steaks.
"We will have all fresh seafood. My chefs will cut the fillets and everything, fresh prepared," said Beatrice Glover.
But with a courtyard in the back where there's a brick oven there will also be a casual feel to it.
"We're going to have the TV on out there, having the football games and having a great pizza night, so we're going to try and play all the cards," said Jimmy Glover.
Now called Beatrice at the Glover, the restaurant is now included in the city's entertainment district.
"We'll definitely do some live entertainment out in the courtyard. The courtyard is going to be a big deal for us in the summer," said Jimmy Glover.
So after more than a decade, the historic Glover will soon be a crown jewel for downtown Guntersville.
"It's a historic place and I always felt like this is where my heart is," said Beatrice Glover.
The restaurant will open on Aug. 30 for invitation only but it will be open for the general public on Aug. 31.
