2 facing drug charges after traffic stop in Decatur

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - On Sunday, July 8 Decatur police performed a traffic stop on a red GMC Sierra for operating with an expired tag.

Investigators say the vehicle came to a complete stop at the intersection of Noble Avenue and Patterson Street SW.

Investigators say two men were found to be in possession of a quantity of synthetic cannabinoids (spice). The driver was identified as Chandler Blake Jones and the passenger was identified as Daniel Izaguirre.

Both Jones and Izaguirre were also found to be in the possession of a handgun without a valid permit. Izaguirre was additionally found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.

Jones was placed under arrest and charged with the unlawful possession of a controlled substance, carrying a pistol without a permit, and having an expired tag.

Izaguirre was placed under arrest and charged with the unlawful possession of a controlled substance, carrying a pistol without a permit, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Jones and Izaguirre were both booked in the Morgan County Jail on a $1,600 bond.
