Authorities continue to search for missing Guntersville woman

GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Kendra Rae Bayless, 34, of Horton, has been reported missing to deputies by family members.

She was thought to be in the Guntersville area. At this time, investigators have not located anyone that has seen her recently.

Bayless is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. She was last seen at the Guntersville Library on June 30.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Bayless is asked to call the sheriff's office at 256.582.2034.

Guntersville police say on June 25, they received a call that Bayless had been assaulted by her boyfriend and had walked to the Piggly Wiggly in Guntersville for help. She told police that the night before her boyfriend punched and kicked her, hit her with a large rock and threatened her with a knife. He continued to assault her for several hours until she lost consciousness.

Bayless sustained injuries all over her body and was taken to Marshall Medical Center North where she was later released.

Her boyfriend, 38-year-old David Eugene Marks, was arrested and charged with domestic violence, second degree and taken to the Marshall County Jail.

Guntersville Police say Bayless came to the station to talk with them about the investigation the same day she went missing.

Marks remains in the Marshall County Jail on a $10,000 bond. The sheriff's office says they have been questioning several of his family members about the disappearance, including his brother, who is also at the jail on unrelated charges.
