ALABAMA (WAFF) - With many celebrations taking place across the state on the Fourth of July, AAA Alabama is hoping to keep people safe and drunk drivers off the road.
The organization says they will be offering "Tow-for-Life", a service that they hope will keep impaired drivers off the road.
The program is in its 32nd year and AAA Alabama says that it will be available to both members and non-members.
"We want to raise awareness and encourage people to plan ahead when celebrating. It is important to make arrangements before you go out, so that you aren't making these decisions after you have been drinking." said Clay Ingram, AAA Alabama spokesperson.
Ingram also says that if you or someone you know has too much to drink on Independence Day, you can 1-800-AAA-HELP and they will help get you home safely.
If you do call them for help, the operator will ask for the driver's name, home address, telephone numbers, and the exact location of the vehicle and driver. Towing will be provided at no charge for up to 10 miles.
AAA Alabama says that they do not condone drinking and driving and encourage all motorists to act responsibly. They will be offering these services between the hours of 6 p.m. on July 4 and 6 a.m. on July 5.
