Man arrested for defacing billboard with vulgar language in Spanish

FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) - Florence police arrested a man on criminal trespassing and criminal mischief charges after they said he defaced a billboard in downtown Florence with vulgar language in Spanish.

On May 29, Florence police officers responded to Florence Boulevard and Tennessee Street about a billboard owned and maintained by Lamar Advertising Co. that was defaced with vulgar language in Spanish.

Police say they found the billboard covered in permanent paint depicting a picture and a phrase translated into Spanish that was vulgar.

Investigators say the sign had to be removed and replaced. The cost of replacing the sign was $1,000. Evidence was located at the scene that helped to identify the offender as Brandon Stoll.

Warrants were issued for Stoll for criminal trespassing and criminal mischief. Stoll was arrested on Sunday and booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center.
