Police arrest man for strangulation and burglary in Florence

FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) - One man is facing strangulation and burglary charges after police say he choked the mother of his child and stole items from her home.

Officers with Florence police responded to a domestic disturbance call on Pine Street on Tuesday, June 5 around 9 p.m.

When they arrived, the spoke with the victim, who has a child with Cody Pritchett.

Pritchett had the child at the time of the incident and went to the Pine Street home to pick up some belongings of the child.

Investigators say when the victim opened the door Pritchett forced his way into the home and started choking the victim.

Pritchett then made a few violent statements toward the victim and continued to choke her. Once she fell to the ground, Pritchett released his hold and left the home. During the altercation, the child was left in the vehicle.

Officers then went to Pritchett's home on Huntsville Road and arrested him for the attack on the victim.

Cody  Pritchett was arrested for strangulation and burglary. He is currently in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $55,000 bond.
