ALEA: Former Lawrence County deputy’s fiancee shoots his ex-wife; no arrests

LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has released more details in Thursday afternoon's shooting in Lawrence County.

It happened at McWhorter Cabinets on County Road 87 in Moulton. The sheriff's office did not release details Thursday night other than to say the victim was taken to Huntsville Hospital.

The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating per request from Sheriff Gene Mitchell. Both the shooter and victim are connected to the sheriff's former chief of staff, Timothy McWhorter.

ALEA said it started as a physical altercation between McWhorter's ex-wife, 38-year-old Analisa Gillespie and Angel Sanders, 34, who court documents reveal is McWhorter's fiancee.

Investigators say at some point, Sanders pulled a gun and shot Gillespie in the chest. She was treated at Huntsville Hospital and released.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

McWhorter parted ways with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office earlier this year.
