MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against a doctor and pharmacy for allegedly overprescribing opioids.

The lawsuit filed in Madison County by the estate of Felicia Ann Kelly alleges that Dr. Celia Lloyd-Turney prescribed or dispensed controlled substances, including opioids and benzodiazepines, to Kelley for no legitimate medical purpose.

The suit also alleges that Lloyd-Turney prescribed at least 3,645 tablets of oxycodone between May 9, 2012 and April 2016.

It also alleges that during the last two and a half months of Kelly's life, the doctor prescribed at least 582 tablets of oxycodone to Kelly in addition to other prescriptions for benzodiazepines.
