FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) - There are over 610,000 people in Alabama with diabetes. That's according to the American Diabetes Association. The Shoals Community Clinic is getting some help for patients dealing with the disease.
Rene Johnson, the clinical manager, said a state-funded grant allowed them to purchase new diabetic equipment. They will detect and monitor a patient's blood glucose for the last three months. That will help doctors figure out treatments, including which medications will work best for the patient.
