SCOTTSBORO, AL (WAFF) - A large drug bust in Jackson County over the weekend brings an unusual find: marijuana wax.
Marijuana wax isn't seen very often but sheriff's officials say it is gaining in popularity and should give parents a reason for concern.
"What is that? I don't even know what that is," said Jackson County parent Crystal Olive.
Olive's answer is probably the same for many people out there who have never even heard of marijuana wax before.
But that's just one of the things investigators found in a weekend bust in a room at the Red Roof Inn in Scottsboro.
Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen said the sheriff's office and Scottsboro police went to a room where they discovered a pound of high-grade marijuana, prescription pills, more than 200 ecstasy pills, more than $4,300 in cash and two weapons.
Drug agents found the marijuana wax in lip balm-type containers. It has the texture of honey.
"You have concerns that kids might get their hands on it and try it because of its looks and it's texture and they may not know what they're getting their hands on. According to what I've read on this substance, it's probably the biggest high you'll ever get from marijuana," said Harnen.
Authorities arrested 24-year-old Jessica Layne Carlson of Scottsboro after searching the motel room. She is facing numerous drug possession charges.
Carlson was released on just under $33,000 bond.
