Resurfacing work on I-65 expected to cause delays

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Road work on Interstate 65 might cause some delays.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has reported that Wiregrass Construction will start resurfacing northbound travel lanes on I-65 between milemarker 339, which is north of the Tennessee River Bridge, and Exit 351 in Limestone County Sunday night.

The work will be conducted nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings. Speed limits will be reduced to 50 mph during all hours while this work is being completed.

This resurfacing is part of a $15.3 million project which will address 12.4 miles of interstate.

ALDOT advises motorists to proceed with caution and expect delays due to single-lane closures.

State officials will be present to assist with traffic.
