FORT PAYNE, AL (WAFF) - A teenager from Georgia died after an incident in Fort Payne.

Rescue personnel and the Alabama State Trooper helicopter recovered the body of a 14-year-old boy from Rome, Georgia around 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Little Falls at Little River Canyon National Preserve.

The boy had reportedly drowned around 1:30 p.m. while swimming with friends. Bystanders removed him from the water and began CPR, however prolonged efforts were unsuccessful.

National Park Service Law Enforcement Rangers responded to the scene, while receiving assistance from multiple other units.
