FRANKLIN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Up until now, Franklin County schools had no school resource officers on campus. Starting this fall, there will be one who will divide his time between all nine schools.
"Good positive comments from all over the county from teachers and parents, everybody wants to be safe and we want to make sure our students are safe," said Franklin County Superintendent Greg Hamilton.
Franklin County commissioners and the board of education are paying for the officer for the first year.
Commissioners are working to make the SRO permanent and hopefully figure out a way to pay for a second one.
