Remains identified in missing Decatur man case from 2016
Human remains have been found near the woods near where items belonging to James Robert Elliott Jr. were found this past November.

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - Authorities in Decatur have learned more in the case of a man who went missing in 2016.

Officials went looking for James Robert Elliott Jr. after he was last seen in October 2016. Remains were found in the Hytop area in February, close to items believed to belong to Elliott. Investigators have now positively identified these remains as Elliott's.

Elliott suffered from Alzheimer's and was 72 years old when he went missing. Officials believed he simply drove off and was unable to find his way back.

There is no cause of death, but foul play is not suspected.
