The Madison-Morgan County Strategic Counterdrug Team, commonly known as STAC, released more information on one of their recent busts that also helped put a dent in the flow of drugs onto the streets.

Last week, agents received information that a woman was driving a white BMW with California tags in the Huntsville area with a substantial amount of marijuana.

The car was spotted and pulled over at a local hotel in Northeast Huntsville. The three people inside the vehicle,  MiMi Chen, Eason Liu, and Peng Fei Len, were arrested and charged with trafficking.

According to the task force commander, Sgt. Eddie Houk, officers found nine pounds of high grade marijuana worth $80,000 in a suitcase in their car, as well as nearly $6,000 cash.

Drug task force officials say the trio traveled from California and made their first stop in Atlanta to drop off drugs, then came to Huntsville to deliver the rest. According to Sgt. Houk, it wasn't their trip across the country making those kinds of deliveries.

The STAC team is a specialized, highly-trained unit. It’s collaborative effort combining the resources of more than a dozen full-time experienced undercover drug agents and support staff from the cities of Huntsville, Madison and Decatur, along with the sheriff's departments in Madison and Morgan Counties, federal agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Immigration and Customs (ICE) agents and attorneys and investigators with the Madison County District Attorney's Office.
