FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Crews are working hard to finish the $36 million project to build a new Florence Middle School.

The winter weather is being blamed for the construction issues.

"We have had some delays due to all of the rain and snow that we have had across the Valley, which slowed the process down," said Connie Wallace, assistant superintendent of Florence City Schools.

The construction team hopes to get a few drier days to get the outside finished which will help make finishing the inside go a lot faster.

Wallace says that the construction workers have been doing a great job making up for all the lost time.

The completion date is next January but could change depending on the weather.
