Decatur's dogs won't have their own park to play in until at least early summer, the architect hired for the project said.
A community group led by Suzie Wiley hired John Godwin of GBW Architects on Wednesday to handle the roughly 2-acre project at Wilson Morgan Park.
"That's OK," Wiley said of Godwin's estimated timetable. "We don't care how long it takes. We just want it to be lovely. That's why we're doing the extra stuff like adding sod and irrigation."
The park received a $100,000 no-match grant from the Association of Resource Conservation and Development Councils in October. The committee raised another $18,000 for the project.
Godwin said the committee will have to go through the city's bid process for the dog park because the grant is public money.
