AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

After getting off to a slow start, the Auburn Tigers scored 28 second-half points to pull away from Louisiana-Monroe 42-14.

Perhaps it was the 11 a.m. kick, or maybe a hangover from last Saturday's Georgia game, but the No. 6 Tigers looked a tad flat in the first half. Auburn and ULM were tied at 7 for most of the half until Jarrett Stidham and Darius Slayton connected on a 50-yard touchdown with 1:27 remaining in the second quarter to put the Tigers ahead 14-7.

Auburn's first drive of the second half went 95 yards in 10 plays, capped by a Kam Martin touchdown run. This drive capped back-to-back 95-plus yard drives for Auburn after the final drive of the first half went 96 yards,

The Auburn defense forced three turnovers in the second half to help pull away from the Warhawks. The offense put up 552 yards of total offense, 317 of which came on the ground.

Kerryon Johnson continues to bolster his 2017 Heisman campaign. Johnson amassed his 17th touchdown of the season with his first-quarter rushing score. Johnson finishes with 137 yards on 22 carries to lead the team.

Now at 9-2, and 6-1 in the SEC, the stage is set for next week to see who will be the SEC West representative in the SEC Championship Game Dec. 2.

Auburn will play host to the undefeated, top-ranked Crimson Tide of Alabama next Saturday in the Iron Bowl. That game will kick at 2:30 p.m. on CBS. Georgia will await the winner in Atlanta.

LSU went back to work this week in preparation for the Citrus Bowl against Notre Dame. A win would be nice, but this is also a chance to get some freshman playing time to get ready for 2018. Well it'll come in practice only. "Those guys will get more reps. So I'll give them a couple of more reps at the end of a team period. It's sending the wrong message to our football team. It's all focus on winning the game. Exactly what we did last year," said LSU Head Coach Ed Org...More >>
