DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Brad Clement, the man accused of concealing the death of a military veteran, was denied bond during a court appearance Friday morning after his arrest in DeKalb County on Thursday.

Chase Massner, 26, was reported missing on March 28, 2014, and was last believed to have been seen by Clement.

A body believed to be that of Massner was found buried behind a home in Kennesaw, once owned by Clement, on Aug. 1. While police believe the remains belong to Massner, the identify of the remains have not been confirmed by the medical examiner.

Sources say Clement was initially going to turn himself in, but he ultimately fled.

Clement rented a U-Haul using a false name, according to a authorities. When he didn't return the U-Haul, the company called the Fugitive Task Force. He was arrested after leaving from inside a Publix grocery store without incident.

CBS46 sources say Clement was inside the store wearing a baseball hat and sunglasses in order to conceal his identity. Once he walked outside, he was apprehended by police. Clement didn't say anything during his arrest.

He is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond. He is due back in court at the end of the month.
