BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A social media post accused police officers in Alabama of beating a suspect last week and throwing him off a bridge.
Rainbow City Police Chief Jonathon Horton says his officers were soon receiving death threats over the claims.
So Horton posted a video that shows the man running from police and jumping off a bridge. The video showed officers locating the man under the bridge and staying with him as he screams in agony over a broken leg.
Body cameras have come into use as a way to monitor police behavior, but there is a flip side. They can help exonerate officers accused of wrongdoing.
Horton says 29-year-old Jonathan Dawon Davis is hospitalized but will face charges later including resisting arrest.
