Elvert Williams

The case of Elvert Williams has taken several twists and turns.  He was run over near the UAH Campus July 6th, 2003.  His body was dragged and left on Sparkman Drive near a residence hall.

For 2 months, nobody knew the victim's name.  He was thought to be homeless.  But in August of 2003 two of his friends recognized a sketch of Williams on WAFF 48 News.

We learned Williams was not homeless.  He was from Chicago, but moved to Huntsville to go to school at Oakwood College.  Friends told WAFF 48 News they thought Williams had gone to Chicago to see his family, they never knew anything was wrong until they saw his picture on TV.

Police need you to help solve the other half of this mystery.  They need the name of the person responsible.

At one point they were looking for a dark gray Toyota with front end damage.

If you have any information on this murder, please contact Sgt. Ed Cain with Huntsville Police at (256) 722-7100.
