Alton Dante Lyles was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The 19-year-old sophomore at Alabama A&M was caught in the cross fire of a gun battle at a gas station on Meridian Street, near the school. It happened April 27, 2002.
Lyles was a standout student and member of ROTC. The Thursday before he was murdered, Lyles received the Sons of American Revolution award.
Lyles was an organ donor. While his death helped save another person's life, his family begs for answers.
Police know several people saw what happened. They need someone to come forward.
