Texas governor calls special legislative session to address bathroom bill

(RNN) - Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has called a special session of the Legislature to take up the controversial "bathroom bill" among other unfinished business.

The bill is among several items that Abbott said were not taken care of during regular office hours. 

During a Tuesday news conference, Abbott re-iterated his support for the bill. It would require transgender people to to use public restrooms corresponding to the gender on their birth certificates.
