HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A rape investigation is underway at Oakwood University.

The alleged victim's family says the alleged attack happened during the weekend and that the victim and her attacker are two young teens.

WAFF 48 News has confirmed that Oakwood and Huntsville police departments are looking into the allegations. But it's still very early in this investigation.

The victim's father said she was led to a room and raped while attending an event at the Oakwood University church Saturday night.

The school's crime logs confirm a rape investigation is ongoing and the location of the alleged attack. However, school and church leaders aren't releasing anything else.

Huntsville police are also staying tight-lipped on the case.

Lt. Stacy Bates of the Huntsville Police Department confirms the department is assisting Oakwood. He said it's normal to have a campus police department and HPD work a case like this together.

"Some of the smaller departments, especially the university campuses, we'll reach out and offer our resources occasionally to help an investigation. We do have investigators that specialize in sexual offenses," said Bates.

The victim's father said he plans to talk with church and school leaders.
