(WAFF) -

Calling all amateur historians and Civil War buffs!

You may want to mark your calendar for an upcoming educational program being held in Grant.

Dr. Curtis Fields, a career educator, and Tennessee native is a longtime Ulysses S. Grant portrayer and a lifelong student of the American Civil War.

Now an adjunct professor at the University of Memphis, Fields has researched General Grant extensively and presents a true-to-life, first-person account.

The event is being held on Tuesday, April 18, at the Grant Town Hall in the Police Courtroom. Admission is free and the program will begin at 7 p.m.

The Grant Civil War Roundtable normally meets at the local public library, but they’re anticipating a much larger crowd than usual due to Dr. Fields’ appearance.
