Deputies: Stolen check in Limestone County allowed criminal to steal $4K

LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A criminal is responsible for writing $4,000 worth of fraudulent checks after stealing bank account information. 

The Limestone County Sheriff's Office reports the victim attempted to mail a check to pay a bill. The company later contacted the individual to inform them the check had never arrived. The victim then reported the check stolen. 

The person who stole the check used the routing and account numbers to create a new checkbook displaying the name of a different bank. 

A picture of the suspect was captured by a security camera outside of a store. 

Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to call the Limestone County Sheriff's Office at (256) 232-0111.
