Stidham shines in Auburn debut at A-Day

Auburn's A-Day is in the books.

The spring game is another tool for the coaches to utilize who could potentially be in starting positions come fall camp.

Transfer quarterback Jarrett Stidham turned some heads in his debut. Stidham complete 16 of 20 passes for 267 yards and added a rushing touchdown.

"I thought he managed the offense well. I thought that he protected the football. That's really where it starts. The number one thing. It was good for him to get out there in front of a crowd. He hasn't been in front of a crowd in a long time. Looked like the receivers made some plays. too. We've been talking about the young receivers. They are growing up a little bit. I thought there were times that group did well receiving," said Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn.

Prattville native Kamryn Pettway did no play on Saturday but fans got a chance to see Kerryon Johnson. He rushed for 47 yards and a first quarter touchdown before leaving the game early with an injury.

"I think it was just a sprain. What they were telling me. He should be fine," said Malzahn.

"It just kind of got caught up underneath me and rolled up a little bit. It will be alright," Johnson commented.

Nate Craig-Myers led all receivers with 154 yards receiving on the day. Will Hastings chipped in with seven catches for 75 yards.

Daniel Carlson connected on five field goals. His long coming from 55-yards out.

Nick Ruffin led the defense with 11 total tackles.

Auburn will hold one more practice on Tuesday.
