Kitchen Cops: 12 low performers, 2 perfect scores

La Orquidea Restaurant in Albertville scored a 65, just six points over the score that would have triggered an automatic shutdown. The inspector reports both hot and cold food temperature violations. Beans were reportedly 26 degrees below the 135 degrees needed to prevent bacterial growth. Chopped beef was eight degrees under the mark. Plus, milk and other food items were seven to nine degrees above the 41 degree requirement for cold-holding food.

Empresas La Poblana Restaurant in Albertville scored a 69. The health department reports they were using food items that were past their expiration dates, and that some hot food items were under the required temperature.

Taqueria Guanajuato in Albertville scored a 77. Hot food and cold food temperature violation were reported there.

Ami's Restaurant in Sheffield scored an 84. The Colbert County Health Department reports dirty pans were stacked with clean pans. They also lost points because there were no expiration date marks on hamburger meat, coleslaw slaw, green beans, beans, corn and peas.

The Tienda Guatemalteca Bakery at 510 Baltimore Ave. in Albertville scored a 78. The inspector reports they had a pest control issue.

Roosters Café at 3387 Oneonta Cutoff Rd. in Albertville scored an 80. The inspector reports finding hot food items that were 44 to 63 degrees under the required temperature.

Vulcan Express at 13730 Alabama Highway 168 East in Boaz is a back-to-back-to-back Kitchen Cops low performer. The food mart scored a 72 and a 66 during their previous two inspections. This time, they scored an 81. The inspector reports they were failing to sanitize utensils, and that soda nozzles needed to be cleaned.

The CiCis Pizza at 11521 U.S. Highway 431 South in Guntersville scored an 82. The health department reports the salad buffet cooler was running 16 degrees above the required temperature.

Toke Sushi Thai & Grill at 1906 Gunters Ave. in Guntersville scored an 83 the inspector reports the dishwasher was not sanitizing. They also lost points for using broken skimmers and food storage containers with broken lids, which can allow cross-contamination.

Sakura Japanese Steakhouse at 11888 U.S. Highway 431 in Guntersville scored an 84. The health department reports there was no measurable chlorine in the dish machine's final rinse.

Country Farms at 4231 Cathedral Caverns in grant scored an 83. The inspector reports they were not date marking some food items to indicate when they would expire.

The Brindlee Mountain Food Mart at 12980 Highway 231 in Union Grove scored a 78. The Marshall County Health Department reports hot and cold food temperature violations

There are two perfect Kitchen Cops high performers this week. Not a single violation was reported at Long Lewis Café at 2800 Woodward Ave. in Muscle Shoals or at the Highway Kabobery food truck out of Huntsville, as both earned 100s.

The Our Little Kitchen food truck out of Athens just missed a perfect score, but still made the high performers list, scoring a 99.
