Foster mother in child sex crime case extradited back to Alabama

FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

The foster mother at the center of a large child sex crime and abuse investigation is now back in the Shoals.

Daniel and Jenise Spurgeon face hundreds of counts connected to crimes against 11 children in their care when they lived in Florence. Charges include sexual abuse, sodomy, sexual torture, rape and human trafficking.

The couple was arrested in Florida last month.

Florence police confirm Jenise Spurgeon was booked unto the Lauderdale County Detention Center on Wednesday. She does not have a bond at this time.

Authorities say Daniel Spurgeon hasn’t been extradited yet because he faces more charges in Florida than she did. It is not yet clear when he will be extradited.
