ROSALIE, AL (WAFF) -

Rebuilding is underway in Rosalie after a deadly tornado killed three people in November.

The storms also destroyed three churches. Thanks to many volunteers, one of the churches is now under construction.

When the Rosalie Church of God got ready to rebuild, they knew they couldn't do it alone and got the help they needed on Tuesday.

"It was one of the most overwhelming experiences I've ever had," said Rosalie Church of God pastor Al Johnson.

Losing your church is bad. But the sound of saws and hammers on nails spells music to the ears of the congregation of the Rosalie Church of God.

This week, volunteers from Men and Women of Action are converging on Rosalie to help rebuild the church.

"It has brought the community closer together, brought the local congregations closer together," said Johnson.

Just days ago it was a slab, and Tuesday trusses are going up on the church.  But a project like this takes volunteers willing to give of their time and talent to make this happen.

"Men and Women of Action helped us two years ago come and frame a new church. We framed a 10,000 square foot church in 12 days, and we want to give back to the community and help the good folks here at Rosalie," said volunteer Phillip Cochran.

But Cochran gave up a lot. Imagine if this were Alabama or Auburn playing for a national championship. This North Carolina native put his efforts into the church instead of Monday night's basketball championship game.

"I watched the first five minutes and fell asleep, but the 4:30 news this morning told me who won and that's all that mattered," said Cochran.

Johnson said he hopes the church will be rebuilt in about six weeks.
