Final 4 candidates for Florence superintendent named

FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Florence school board members Monday night learned the names of the final four candidates for superintendent and among them is Jimmy Shaw, the school district's assistant superintendent of instruction.

Terry Jenkins, a consultant with the Alabama Association of School Boards who is leading the search, said 25 candidates from nine states made application for the position. Of those, 11 are from Alabama with three of the four finalists currently working in Alabama school districts.

The other finalists include Catherine Beck, formerly of Florence but working as assistant superintendent of Summit School District in Breckenridge, Colorado; Boyd English, of Luverne, superintendent of Crenshaw County Schools; and Alan Miller, superintendent of Haleyville schools.
