SHEFFIELD, AL (WAFF) -

If you have old children's books you don't mind parting with, the new youth chapter of the Tri-County Branch of the NAACP would love to take them off your hands.

The youth chapter is conducting a book drive to get books in the hands of children in Colbert, Franklin and Lauderdale counties, and help them build their own personal libraries.

"The youth chapter of the Tri-County Branch of the NAACP is made up of students between the ages of 5 and 12," Sheffield Councilwoman Penny Freeman said. "They are a youth-led organization and have their own officers, agenda and objectives in keeping with the vision and mission of the NAACP."
