Pedestrian hit by train behind Lee High School

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

HEMSI confirms one person was hit by a train behind Lee High School Tuesday afternoon.

The school principal said it was not a student.

On Wednesday, Huntsville police told us the pedestrian was struck by a freight train near the tracks on Quietdale Drive around 3:15.

Officers located the victim lying near the tracks behind an address on Christian Lane. 

Police say the victim was thrown from the tracks upon impact and sustained multiple injuries to his upper body and was transported to Huntsville Hospital with life threatening injuries. 

The victim is still in serious condition and police are still investigating the incident.
