Arrest made in stolen guns investigation from Athens pawn shop

ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

Athens police have arrested a man in connection to a large gun theft from a pawn shop. But the investigation isn't over.

Police say say approximately 50 handguns were taken during an overnight burglary at Bradford’s Pawn and Jewelry on South Marion Street. Officers found a window broken out at about 2 a.m. Monday.

Brian James Parker, 21, of Athens was arrested early Wednesday. He is charged with third-degree burglary.

Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said the are continuing to interview people about the case. He said he cannot reveal more information at this time. He said more information will be released as the investigation continues.

The Athens Police Department asked the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to assist in the investigation.

 Johnson asks anyone with information to call the Athens Police Department at 256-233-8700 or their closest ATF office or law enforcement..
