'Dodgeball with a softball pitcher' video teaches lesson: Don't try it

(RNN) - In some societies, dodgeball decides who rules the land and the people that live there.

That's not true. But if it was, we'd have a new leader.

A video titled "When you play dodgeball with a pitcher" has garnered nearly 2 million views on Facebook. The purveyor of pain is Adyson Slayback, of Normal, IL, her opponents are her softball teammates, and the video was shared by her coach and father, JJ Slayback.

It shows the 15-year-old's toss lifting one girl off the ground, and she doubles another one over with her underhanded throwing style.

That's not a commentary on her character. She literally throws it underhanded, fast-pitch style.

A proud - and maybe a little nervous - dad can be heard laughing as she strikes down her teammates.

"I decided to turn on the camera after being face blasted by my own offspring," he said. "My intent was to let the girls have some fun, and maybe I'd add it on (the softball team's) page."

The game happened during a practice for her travel team. It's probably the last time they'll do that.

"Honestly, if I would have denied their request to play dodgeball that day, the game might have been 'Hit The Coach,'" JJ Slayback said.

Her dissection of the rest of her roster has been shared by ESPN, MLB.TV and NBC News, among others.

"It's just been crazy," Adyson said of her newfound fame, according to WGLT.
