David: Heat index back near 100° Tuesday

(WAFF) -

Temperatures are warming quickly under mostly sunny skies. Highs should top out in the low-to-mid 90s. Isolated, pop-up storms are possible again this afternoon, but that activity should be more isolated than it was yesterday

If you don’t have any storms close by, you can expect heat index values in the triple digits. Any storms should be short-lived, so only brief delays of 30-45 minutes for heavy rain or lightning for any outdoor activities this afternoon. Any storms should end this evening as temps fall through the 80s.

For the remainder of the week, expect a typical summer weather pattern. Highs in the low-to-mid 90s, more humidity, and pop-up afternoon storms. Heat index values will again soar to near 100° Wednesday-Thursday.

We're tracking a weak frontal system that has the potential to bring more widespread rain and storms to the Valley on Friday. It could also keep temperatures a few degrees lower.

Lows might dip into the 60s for a night or two with highs in the 80s behind the front on Saturday. Look for temps to warm back up next week.
