UPDATE: 2nd officer shot in Americus out of surgery; suspect on the loose

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office chaplain announced at a vigil Wednesday night that the second officer shot by an armed and dangerous suspect earlier in the day has made it out of surgery.  Officer Jody Smith, with the Georgia Southwestern State University, is out of surgery and his current condition is unknown.

Wind chills in the 30s all day

A stray sprinkle may dot your windshield this morning as an arctic cold front tracks through the Valley, but no significant rain is expected. Clouds will slowly clear over the course of the day. Temperatures won't climb very much today with a breezy north wind of 10-15mph We'll top out in the low 40s around lunch time and fall back into the 30s by afternoon.
