Huntsville Police Department wants to help keep people safe as the annual Christmas Parade takes place downtown on Thursday, December 1.

Prior to the parade's start at 6 p.m., several streets and intersections will begin closing in phases at 5:45 p.m. to help the flow of the parade.

The parade will take the following route:

  • Start on East on Clinton Avenue from Lot K
  • North and East on Monroe Street
  • South on Greene Street
  • East on Williams Avenue
  • South on Adams Street
  • Disband in the area of Huntsville Junior High School

Motorists are asked to drive cautiously in the area and to be aware of small children and adults crossing the streets.

The parade will end approximately at 8 p.m. with all streets reopening by 9 p.m.

Police ask that people attending events at the VBC during this time to avoid using Clinton Avenue and take an alternate route of Williams Avenue to Monroe Street to access the parking garage.
