Crime Stoppers: Man shops with cloned credit card

MADISON, AL (WAFF) -

The word we're getting from law enforcement is credit card cloning is one of the fastest growing crimes in our area, if not the country. And in this week's Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers, you can add one more to that growing list.

The man seen on surveillance camera at the Walmart Supercenter on Highway 20 in Madison on July 19 isn't a clone. He's a real human being. But he's in some real trouble for using a cloned credit card to buy some items at the store.

So what is a cloned card? According to law enforcement, crooks get a blank gift card and transfer your information to the magnetic strip on the back. And they become you, at least a clone of you.

We're asking for your help tracking down this cloning criminal. He's the one with the gray sweatpants and black T-shirt.

He'll be making a wardrobe change to an orange inmate jumpsuit if you can help us track him down.

Any ideas? There's up to $1,000 riding on your answer. That's the reward being offered if your anonymous tips lead us to him.

Just call 256-53-Crime. To see how to text or e-mail your anonymous tips, click the Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers link.
