A State of Emergency is in effect across Alabama following deadly overnight tornadoes and storms. 

Governor Robert Bentley signed the order on Wednesday afternoon. 

Severe thunderstorms, hail, winds and tornadoes caused deaths, injuries and damage across 12 counties. 

Counties impacted include:

  • Colbert
  • Cullman
  • DeKalb
  • Franklin
  • Jackson
  • Lauderdale
  • Madison
  • Marion
  • Marshall
  • Morgan
  • Pickens
  • Winston

Three people died in Jackson County after an EF-2 tornado ripped through Rosalie. 

The order allows state agencies the freedom to request extra funds and resources. 

More than 10,000 home statewide are still without power.
