(WAFF) - 30 buildings burn in Gatlinburg as wildfire brings mass evacuations
Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and surrounding areas are being evacuated due to wildfires in the Smoky Mountains. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have called evacuations as ash pours from the sky over the cities. An emergency notification was issued by the Sevier County Emergency Management Agency.
A plane carrying finalists for the South American football championship has crashed in the country of Colombia, The Associated Press reports. The British Aerospace 146 short-haul plane was reportedly carrying 72 passengers and nine crew members, including the Brazilian club soccer team, Chapocoense
Columbus police said an 18-year-old man drove a car onto The Ohio State University campus, jumped a curb and hit several pedestrians, then got out of his gray Honda Civic and started stabbing people. Within one minute, police said OSU officer Alan Horujko, 28, shot and killed the man and confiscated the butcher knife he used as a weapon.
