State of Emergency declared following pipeline explosion

A state of emergency is in effect less than 24 hours after a deadly explosion occurred along the Colonial Pipeline.

Governor Robert Bentley issued the order to allow federal limitations on truck driver hours to be lifted to lessen fuel shortages.

The state of emergency is effective throughout November.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the six injured workers and with the family of the fatally injured worker,” Governor Bentley said.  “An accident of this magnitude is tough for any community to deal with."
