RAYCOM NEWS NETWORK - 70,000 fans are expected to flood Birmingham on Saturday, October 29th for the 75th kickoff of the Magic City Classic.
The game, which is a historic rivalry between Alabama State University and Alabama A&M University, is also important for the Southwestern Athletic Conference standings.
The Hornets and Bulldogs will travel to Legion Field with 2-5 records. Both teams have beat the same opponents: Mississippi Valley State and the University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff.
A run of the conference table, starting on Saturday, could keep either team alive in the SWAC East standings.
Alabama State has struggled on defense, but the Hornet offense has only failed to put up at least 17 points in two of its last seven games.
ASU is coming off a bye week ahead of the matchup with the Bulldogs.
Alabama A&M will also rely on its offense, which is averaging 29 points per game against SWAC opponents, to add to the all-time series lead.
The Bulldogs lead the Magic City Classic series 38-33-3.
Alabama State University won the 2015 matchup 35-20.
Kickoff is set for 3:00PM at Legion Field.
