Madison County Commissioner Bob Harrison says the county jail might not be the best home for those who are dealing with mental issues, so he's organized a community conversation and vision meeting to discuss other alternatives. According to Harrison's Office, the Jail Diversion Initiative is an effort to meet the growing needs of law enforcement officers, emergency responders, hospital staff and mental health care advocates who are committed to an adequate treatment and care for the mentally ill.
Some thin cloud cover is making for a warmer morning than we've seen recently. Temperatures are holding close to 70° save for cooler readings over northeastern AL. We'll warm up quickly this morning with a mix of sun and clouds. We should be into the lower 80s by noon with highs in the upper 80s. Not only is that about 15° warmer than average for this time of year, today's highs will be at near-record levels.
