Police identify woman in deadly Highway 72 wreck

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville police have identified the victim who died in an early morning car crash on Highway 72 on Monday.

Police say 30-year-old Ashley White died after the car she was riding in left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

The driver of the vehicle suffered only minor injuries. 

The wreck happened just after 2 am. on Highway 72 East in front of OH! Bryan's Steak House.

White was ejected from the car and died on scene.

Approximately 50 minutes after the wreck, a transformer exploded causing the car to catch fire and a brief power outage in the area.

Crews were able to get the fire contained and power restored.The exact cause of the wreck is under investigation.
