HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The University of Alabama in Huntsville police are investigating a possible sex assault that happened inside a campus dorm room.

A UAH spokesperson confirmed Kentucky authorities contacted the school earlier this week after the alleged teen victim came forward with the accusation.

According to the campus crime log, an adult church leader is accused of sodomizing the victim while they were staying inside the school’s dorms in June 2015.

The UAH spokesperson confirms the church is located in Goshen, Kentucky just north of Louisville, Kentucky. A group from the church was attending and participating in a church camp in Huntsville last summer when the alleged attack occurred.

“This incident is an active criminal investigation. However. no one affiliated with the university was involved in this matter.” - Ray Garner, UAH spokesperson

Church leaders rented out the UAH dorm for the group to stay in while on their visit to north Alabama. Campus police confirm the victim was 15-years-old at the time of the alleged sexual assault.
