AT&T Fiber network now in Huntsville and Madison

MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville and Madison have joined the 67 metro areas that benefit from AT&T's new fiber network. 

State House speaker Mac McCutcheon Joined Huntsville mayor Tommy Battle and Madison Mayor Troy Trulock for the big announcement Tuesday morning. 

“We are proud to deliver AT&T's fastest internet to our customers in the greater Huntsville area, offering enriched experiences as our customers increasingly interact with their world in more data-intensive ways,” said Fred McCallum, president of AT&T Alabama. “At AT&T, we are committed to innovation and providing cutting-edge technologies such as our ultra-fast internet speeds that will enhance the many ways our customers live, work and play.”

Services are available for $90 per month in Huntsville and parts of Madison. 

“Increased access to high-speed internet is an important ingredient for our flourishing local tech community,” said Troy Trulock, Mayor of Madison. “AT&T is the first major provider to offer these speeds to area residential customers. AT&T's ultra-fast internet is a welcome addition to our city and state.”

A check of the AT&T website now shows Huntsville and Madison as eligible cities for the company's GigaPower network

The high-speed internet service will contend with WOW! and Google Fiber in North Alabama.

    A ground search ensued that lasted about four hours and covered approximately six miles, ending a few hundred yards east of Hays Mill Road where the suspects were caught in a hunting stand/shoot house.
