A campaign sign for Ben Harrison was vandalized with crude graffiti within the past 24 hours in Athens.

The sign is located at the corner of Sewell Road and Edgewood Road.

“I am speechless, and so saddened by this attack. I can't believe this is happening here in Limestone County. Forget about a political campaign. This is disrespectful and violating to every citizen in Limestone County. I believe we are better than this here in Alabama," Harrison said in a statement.

Harrison asked for whoever was involved to stop and that he is currently working to get the sign covered.

"This doesn't just hurt my campaign, but my family, friends, supporters, and every person representing District 4. I want to have a fair campaign and run on the issues," Harrison said.
