Kitchen Cops: Inspector reports chicken juice dripping on veggies, 8 reinspections

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Eight previous Kitchen Cops low performers made good on their chance for redemption upon reinspection. One local restaurant will have to clean things up to do the same after the Madison County Health Department cited them for a cross-contamination violation. 

The Cajun Grill in the Parkway Place Mall food court scored a 78. the inspector reports raw chicken juice dripped onto green beans stored below. Also, that raw chicken was reportedly ten degrees over the 41-degree temperature needed to prevent bacterial growth.

A single drop of chicken juice can cause food poisoning. Officials with the Madison County Health Department tell WAFF 48 News they have not received any reports of anyone becoming ill because of the violation at Cajun Grill.

Four Leaves Asian Restaurant in Huntsville earned the highest score among businesses that did well enough to get off of the low performer's list. Their staff scored a 95, a 16-point improvement over their previous inspection.

Wok-n-Roll in Florence scored a 91, a big improvement over their previous inspection when they scored a 79. The Domino's Pizza in Athens scored a 94 for their reinspection score, a ten-point jump.

El Azteca Restaurant y Taqueria in Athens earned a 90 this time after scoring an 82 last time. Los Morelenses & China Express at the Wavaho on Winchester Road in Huntsville scored a 75 before but shot up to an 89 for their reinspection.

Saffron Indian Restaurant in Madison scored an 88 during their follow-up inspection. That's an eight-point improvement. Minnie Lee's Diner in Athens needed an 85 or higher to get off of the low performer's list, and they did with an 87, five points better than their inspection last month.

Abby's Mini Mart, also in Athens, also scored an 82 last time and also is off of the low performer's list after scoring an 87. There are two Kitchen Cops High Performers this week. The Tim's Cajun Kitchen mobile food unit in Huntsville and Old Towne Beer Exchange in Huntsville each scored a 99.
