Crime Stoppers: Woman takes trash can filled with stolen merchandise

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Crooks use all kinds of things to carry off stolen items: purses, pockets, pickup trucks. But in this week's Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers, something a little different.

A woman turned a burglary into a "trashy" crime.

You can see our burglar on surveillance camera pushing a trash can at Mayer Electric Supply Company on Drake Avenue  on Aug. 3. There's no law against that.

But the catch here is what was in the garbage can. It wasn't garbage.

Police say there was over $1,000 worth of stolen merchandise in there. I guess one man's trash was another woman's treasure.

The one shot we have of the burglar is certainly clear enough to identify her. And if you can, the reward money is anything but garbage. It's up to $1,000 for one simple tip.

To collect that, you can make an anonymous call to 256-53-Crime or, if you'd prefer, you can text or email your anonymous tips. To see how to do that, click the Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers link.
